The SpringTide 7000

Lucent's SpringTide 7000 IP Service Switch is optimized for large-scale deployments, and provides a service delivery platform with industry-leading performance, advanced IP services, and lower costs through equipment consolidation. The SpringTide 7000 builds on the capabilities of the Lucent SpringTide 5000, shipping since December 1999. Both switches are key elements of the Lucent service intelligent network architecture.

The SpringTide 7000 provides IP services with edge routing, including high-density channelized interfaces with more than 2,500 DS1s per chassis. This collapses the services point of presence (POP) into a single platform to reduce equipment and operations costs.

The SpringTide 7000 also features intelligent mapping of services to MPLS. By "wrapping" the MPLS core with service intelligence, this feature allows end-to-end QoS by dynamically creating the necessary paths through the network required by the specific user or application.

In addition, the product also features industry-leading performance and new levels of scale and density with high-speed Gigabit Ethernet and Packet over SONET interfaces, as well as a new high-performance service module that enables 5 to 10 times the density and capacity of competitive products with up to 192,000 user sessions.
