Like other M-series routers, the M20 router is a high-performance platform built for a variety of applications. Only 14in (35.56 cm) in height, the compact M20 design delivers incomparable performance of 20+ Gbps throughput, scalability, and reliability in a space-efficient package. An optional redundant switching fabric adn Routing Engine increase system availability and ensures automatic failover in case of failure.

The M20 router supports up to OC-48c/STM-16 speeds and houses 4 slots for up to 16 PICs. M20 and M40 FPCs and PICs are interchangeable; most of these PICs can be used in the M40e router as well.
